Cheryl Lee Rogers and The SPACE are excited to bring an expanded offering of yoga to our community.   The mission at The SPACE is to invite our community to celebrate and participate in creativity.  They accomplish this mission through visual arts, performance arts, classes, camps and more.  The MAT is an expansion on their current mission; inviting our community to participate in the art of yoga.  

No one knows exactly when Yoga began, but it certainly predates written history.  The one thing we know for sure at The SPACE is that yoga began for us in the fall of 2006 just 4 months after we opened our doors and it has become a class that is part of the core programming of The SPACE.  

Yoga did not teach itself,  Cheryl Lee Rogers, has grown the class to where it is today.  Cheryl has been teaching yoga for 6 years and practicing and studying the philosophy behind yoga for over 12 years.

Gentle Yoga with Meditation - All Levels
6-7:15 pm / Mondays
Relax and rejuvenate in this gentle, slow-paced yoga class. Meditation will be introduced  to integrate emotions, reduce the speed and restlessness of the mind, and bring about a calm stillness in  the body. In this way you can learn how to better focus on your experiences in the moment, develop awareness and the ability to make choices that work better and better for you. You’ll gain an overall feeling of health and wellness as you move through gentle yoga postures, releasing tension and resistance, and use gentle breath work with movement to stretch muscles and massage internal organs. This class is perfect for beginners but all levels are welcome as modifications will be offered for everyone to enjoy.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga - Advanced Beginners & Intermediates
6-7 pm / Tuesdays
Go with the flow! This fun, moderately-paced class will combine yoga postures and flowing sequences to build a stronger, more flexible you. Achieve better overall balance and awareness while flowing from posture to posture, opening up the body in a sort of yoga “dance.” You’ll learn about ujjayi breathing (victorious breath), vinyasa (breath with movement), and drishti (gazing points) to bring about a sense of harmony in the body, mind, and soul. Sun and Moon Salutations will be practiced along with many other poses each week. Come prepared to breathe and move!

Twilight Yoga - All Levels
7-8pm / Thursdays
Indulge your senses at the time of twilight where earth meets sky, displaying an unusual and beautiful quality of ambient light. In this peaceful yoga class, you‘ll experience soft lighting, gentle flowing yoga postures, music, and essential oils to soothe the soul and senses. The serene setting will allow you to slip into a deep sense of peace and relaxation. Moon salutations and focus on alignment will be introduced along with many other yoga postures to open and create delightful space in the body, mind, and soul. A great way to begin your new bedtime routine!

Last Comic Laughing...Act VIII - The Class
This fabulous & FUN class is taught by Teacher/Comedian Scott Novotny. The six week class will teach students how to create a 5-10 minute comedy act that will make audiences laugh every time! You’ll get to try what you learned live in a showcase.

Mondays: September 20 - October 25 | 7pm
Fee: $150

Includes 6 classes, live showcase and a dvd keepsake of your performance
